I really enjoyed The Correspondent. What stood out most to me was the depth of the character development—the way you’re invited into someone’s life as they reflect near the end of it. There was something very moving about hearing her look back on her decisions, her regrets, and the different paths her life could have taken. It felt honest in a way that stays with you.
At the same time, as a practicing Catholic, I found it a little difficult that there wasn’t much (if any) exploration of her relationship with God or faith. When you’re reading about someone at that stage of life, it naturally raises those deeper questions, and I found myself wishing that dimension had been present.
Even so, I appreciated the book for what it was—a thoughtful, introspective look at a life lived, with all its complexity. The character stayed with me, and that, to me, is always the mark of a meaningful read.
