I just didn’t love this book. I know lots of people did, but the perpetual, overwhelming sadness combined with the arrogance and stubbornness of the main character did not make it very interesting to me. Plus, she is supposed to be an English major and accomplished writer, yet she makes the same grammatical error over and over such as, “He’s taller than me”, instead of, “He’s taller than I am.” It’s not a big deal except that she holds people to the highest standard, yet this small careless mistake indicates why she should not be quite so smug about her own writing. I may be the only person who notices it, and I’ll bet (hope) it was purposeful to show the irony. It’s not lost on me.
