What a story! We begin with an example of Carrington’s negotiation skills that lead to a positive result. However, the next encounter does not go as well as the story of a family in crises begins to unfurl.

The narration moves back and forth between Carrington, the negotiator and Levi, the journalist. We see the events through their perspectives.

The setting is the southern border of Texas with trips back and forth to Houston. Of course, I am quite familiar with both locations, so envisioning the settings described was not difficult.

I loved getting to know the life events of both major characters, which enhance their struggles. Faith in God is considered, but from a unique angle in this story.

We have two different narrators, both do a wonderful job reading the story as if they are talking with us, the listeners (readers). Great read!
