I decided to listen to this to appease a friend, not expecting to really like it. I was pleasantly surprised. I mostly enjoy listening to and reading hard sci fi so this was a bit of a departure for me…but I’m 100% hooked. It’s funny but not overly crude (just to the edge) and it’s actually heartfelt without being saccharine or trite. I imagine that this sort of story could end up feeling like a slog after 3 or 4 books but I’m optimistic and I’m excited to listen to book 2!
The narration was perfect. Probably weird to say but my favorite thing was when the narrator read Donut’s all caps chat messages out loud. I’m glad chose to listen rather than read based on that detail alone.
