I was hoping with the occasional brutality in the first book this would become more adult as it went on, but it is a whiny, drama filled teen series dispite the occasional gore. MC stays relatively oblivious, side characters are whining most of the time, and the narration doesn’t get better by book 3, which is where I stopped and returned.
