First, I love this narrator! He doesn’t just tell a story, he paints a picture that will stay in your memory forever. He captures the small nuances of humor, fear and bravery! In this newer high-tech world, a human story teller will never be bested as long as this guy is around. I don’t follow authors religiously anymore. I follow narrators!
This story sequence was unbelievable. I have listened to apocalyptic and post apocalyptic books for at least a year now and this is the first one that didn’t focus on the immediate aftermath. It has many surprises and twists in it. The characters are well developed and not so many that you forget who they are. I have ADHD (combined type) and listening to stories is difficult if I can’t read along with the book but I managed to follow along and keep every one straight. Although, there were a few times I had to backup a few chapters because a main character was in a new clan and I was thinking “wait, when did that happen?!?!” Overall amazing imagination of the author, definitely a rival for R. J. Rowling (not sure if I got the name right). I will add a note to the author that too much time was spent on the numerous battles and all of the extraneous details. I like a good clash, but I don’t like when they drag on.
