The series started out pretty light-hearted, well, as light-hearted as any story about the world ending and forcing everyone left to fight monsters for entertainment can be. But these characters have really started to develop. I appreciate the moments of depth and development the author gives them. They’re not one-dimensional characters (not that they ever felt that way, but they’ve gone even deeper now) and we’re seeing more moments of that depth and intensity. So as the story progresses, so have the characters. I once heard that at first, the dungeon happens to Carl, and then Carl happens to the dungeon. This has been the case the last couple books, but it’s definitely the case in this one. If you’re in this far, I doubt you need reviews to convince you to continue. Keep going! It’s only getting better!
