Endless character development with very SLOW plot. I could only force my self to listen to the first few hours of tediously detailed descriptions of one character after another having monotonous interactions with equally boring counterparts. Apparently the author has a very high opinion of himself as he gets lost in describing the boring lives of his characters in lieu of developing a plot. What really turned me off was his nonchalant referral to the “Gulf of America” and the “Secretary of War”. What the heck is that all about? While the whole world embraces the Gulf of Mexico and the Secretary of Defense, Bobby Akart signals that he has bought into the authoritarian American regime currently threatening our democracy.

Yes, a missile is launched on Christmas Eve and this will destroy life as we know it but after trying to listen to this thing for a few hours, I could not care less whether the characters lived or died.
