Very enjoyable story—I definitely did not expect it to go where it did! At times, parts were difficult to read, particularly the scenes in the cabin.
Just a word of warning for highly empathetic readers or anyone sensitive to themes involving the mistreatment or neglect of vulnerable people, especially mothers during and after childbirth. That said, these scenes were important to the overall understanding of the story and were handled thoughtfully and tastefully by the author.
