Minor gripes aside, I find myself struggling with the character progression of the MC. He lacks character growth and with every book he feels more and more like a self-insert of a freshly graduated young man from a Christian homeschool group. There is a slight male chauvinist undertone that is getting progressively more noticeable throughout the series. That and the constant references (cultural, religious and even other IPs) that have absolutely no ties to this world that are constantly distracting me from the story. That being said, it’s still an engaging story with interesting characters and the performance is of course, fantastic.
