Finished this entire Dark Nation series in four days and honestly got pretty attached to these characters by the end.

At first I wasn’t sure how I felt when the third book introduced a whole new set of characters while only dropping small clues about the original prison crew and family. I wanted more updates and thought the shift hurt the story a little in the middle books. But once everything started connecting, I ended up appreciating how all the different storylines intertwined.

That’s one thing Grace Hamilton does really well. Even with multiple groups and perspectives, the characters still feel distinct and easy to care about.

The ending felt right for this type of post-apocalyptic series. Sad seeing some characters die, but that’s realistically how these books usually go. Not everyone makes it out alive.

Overall this was a huge, addictive survival series that kept me listening at 2.7x the speed.
