I was excited to learn what the author the confidence to claim AI will kill us. Unfortunately it’s already outdated and many claims nullified. They give examples of AI behaving badly then create a hypothetical apocalypse where they gloss how it gets unsupervised autonomy. The classic “don’t plug it into the internet!” trope. The argument is: we don’t know what it will do but it might kill us so it will, therefore, we should make it illegal to work on. Welcome to a year later where reality is: it’s already more knowledgeable than us and not autonomous. What’s annoying is we should be afraid, but it’s because of scammers, or losing our jobs, or the government spying on us and creating autonomous weapons. All things that are ACTUALLY HAPPENING.
