I’ve read my share of EMP apocalypse stories, and The Dark Road Series somehow manages to be even more predictable — and frankly, more ridiculous — than most. The plot hinges on decisions so painfully stupid I couldn’t even finish the audiobook. Who picks up a total stranger during societal collapse, then risks everything to drive her across the country just to reunite her with another stranger? It’s not bravery, it’s idiocy. Same tired tropes, same flat characters, and not a shred of believable survival logic. Do yourself a favor — skip this one. The dark road leads straight to disappointment.
