This title didn’t grab me when I read the synopsis, but then a friend highly recommended this book. The protaganist, Cybil, is a woman in her 70s who is meticulous, demanding — and can also be very kind. As the letters she sends and receives reveal more of her to herself — and to us! — we learn, along with her, how circumstances have shaped her.And I admire her work in recognizing and addressing her own missteps.

I love this character, and the writing is beautiful.

With regards to narration, with so many voices, I can’t understand why a child wasn’t cast to voice Cybil’s young friend!
