Would you be willing to try another book from Rebecca Cantrell? Why or why not?
I wont not object to it.

The prose of the book was enjoyable and good to listen to. It flowed well and kept me interested.

The plot was good generally. A few instances are over the top bordering on the absurd (particularly the ease at which the main character hacks things – the early scene with Time Square signing is laughable) and took me out if it a bit. But not enough to ruin the experience. It was a quick paced, fun read.

Have you listened to any of Jeffrey Kafer’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I’ve listened to Jeffery Kafer a few times before and I have always enjoyed his work. This is up there with the best of what I’ve heard of his. Various voices for characters, emotions in the narration, emphassis where required etc. Generally a very well done narration.
Do you think The World Beneath needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
It doesn’t need it per se but the last line or two do set up for future events. It’s a enjoyable one and done story that can be followed up with a sequel.

The main character(s) are itneresting enough to tell another story. The hero is quite different to most gunho heros you get. He’s more of a nerdy character, plus he has some quirks – synestesia for one, plus he has developed agrophobia. Between the two things (both used fairly effectively in the story) it was refreshing compared to the hard on his luck cop, or ex military guy that usually end up in these sorts of thriller/murder books.

I understand there is a sequel and I may pick it up at some point.

Any additional comments?
I enjoyed the book. Would probably put it as a 3.5 / 5 if i could.
