The writer missed the English class about show not tell. Because the whole book was a long lecture to the reader. Character development is poor. There was no likable characters in this book. Some were really annoying and some were just neutral. This was written by a dungeon master thinking he should write a book. And he can be great one day but this felt like his first attempt.

World building could have been interesting but it was just the narrator telling the audience things instead of showing with interesting interactions.

Humor not only missed the mark, but the same boring humor was over used.

There was no conflict in this book. Everything was extremely easy. Not sure what’s the point if there’s no conflict and there’re no characters you’re rooting for.

The acting was good but the direction was very poor. One of the main voices was an extremely annoying sounding girl. The main character’s smug, slow speaking style fit the character but when also used as the narration voice it was annoying and slow. Overall the performance was interesting but not great. Even Jeff Hayes couldn’t save this performance.

I will not be getting the second book.
