Got this as a gift from a friend, so mnow that I write this from a place of wanting to like it.
I am not done yet but so far the characters are insufferable. The narrator does not help, somehow he sounds like someone trying to use a Joe swanson meets military man voice. Sounds pretty cool im theory but it in practice he sounds like an idiot in every sentence.
The writing is awful, an author that leans so heavily on obscenities to make a point should rethink their careers. Overall the writing feels like someone who likes popculture but never has experienced popculture. lots of surface level references, “a mile wide and an inch deep” comes to mind.
The premise is a let down. A dungeon crawling rpg inspired story is how it was pitched to me, it feels like someone’s bad fanfic.
All in all can not recommend 0/10.
