It did a lot of universe building and character development only to leave you with no real resolution. There’s a whole subplot of someone building a powerful orphan army but there’s no sequel.
The “love conflict” felt like a trope you’d find in twilight. Brooding quiet cold guy in Takeru/Edward vs warm exciting adventurous guy in Robin/Jacob.
