I have picked this book up so many times in the past few months. I’ve seen it while Christmas shopping, while looking for a gift for a friend, and while I was thinking about what my next read would be. But finally, when it popped up on my Audible account, I thought, “YES, I will listen to that – finally.” And wow, so glad I did.
The story is amazing, so well crafted to pull you through the letters – as only a good one does. Learning the backstory of Sybil and understanding her strengths and her weaknesses makes you pause to think about those around you, and what you don’t know about them.
I am glad that I listened to the story; it was one of the best performances I have heard in a long time. Much care was taken in the reading of the written word to share the character of the characters without a description of such. You can picture them in the voice chosen to read their lines.
