Let me start by saying I love Matt’s other works. I feel like the flow is good on them and continues building to a great climax.
Unfortunately Operation Bounce House did not follow that same recipe. It starts slower, which is fine, but never really picks up pace until the last 1/3 of the book. Then when it picks up oace it felt like the ending was rushed and unfinished, There was so many loose threads that werent properly tied up due to this rushed ending.
Lets move on to subject matter. I was REALLY excited, the idea of rebellion in a scyfi setting was very interesting. Not to mention you add Mechs and other robots to that mix its a recipe for a good time. But this story didnt feel like it centered around that. It felt like it was constantly commenting on todays political issues and was hammering that into you the whole story, making the subject matter a mute point, almost like you were being lectured. I finished this book in less than a week, because I had so much hope it would get better.
The one good thing I liked, was the suspense of knowing the AI character was scheming constantly kept me on the edge of my seat.
