My Take on Books 1 & 2:
The first book sets the stage perfectly, but Book 2 (The Maestro’s Carnival) really turns up the heat. The stakes get higher, the humor gets sharper, and the RPG mechanics are deep without ever feeling tedious.
Bottom Line: If you want a series that will make you laugh out loud in public and then immediately stress out over the fate of a talking cat, buy these books. God dammit, Donut—this series is fantastic!
