Adair Finch is a private investigator and a recluse. After he lost his brother during a case, he stopped helping people and has hidden away. But one morning (at 4:34am) a young girl, Bree, shows up and asks for his help finding her father and her mother’s killer. Realizing he can’t turn his back on her or her family, he takes the case and realizes things have gone to heck while he has been hiding from the world. Luckily, he has all the time in the world to figure it out and save Bree’s father and solve the murder.

Adair Finch is the stereotypical world-weary PI. He has lost his brother and would rather just hide away. He’s crabby, easily annoyed and magical. He is a warlock tied to Chronos, so he has the ability to rewind time. Despite being the gruff PI character, he is actually quite likeable. While he is somewhat the usual reluctant PI character, there is more to him and I didn’t feel like the author was trying to copy any other PI MC’s. Bree is a bubbly, optimistic 12 year old witch who has not come into her power yet. She won’t ever take no for an answer and she manages to grow on Finch despite his best efforts. Kull is a trickster spirit and I absolutely adored her!! She was absolutely hilarious and made me giggle.

This book has great pacing, even if it is a magical Groundhog Day (on purpose) situation. Even though the day restarts MANY times, there isn’t down time. They are always on the go and learning new things. The banter between the characters is hilarious and I am so glad I listened to this book. I enjoyed the story, but the narration was fabulous! I liked that the narrator was not the actual voice of Finch and his speaking parts were voiced differently. But Kull had to be my favorite, she was really brought to life.

I am having a hard time trying to write a review that tells how much I loved this story for some reason, but I did absolutely adore this book and may keep my audible subscription one more month so I can get the next book.
