Dinniman doesn’t BS you with a long lead up or boring backstories. You get to jump right in. And I was immediately invested in the story and main characters. Jeff Hays’ narration is top-tier! The action is epic, gruesome, and heart-wrenching. The story is fast-paced, clever, and hilarious. I shouted at the characters multiple times throughout. I think for some readers, the moments of truly tragic circumstances can be hard to empathize with, given the hilarious absurdity of the story as a whole. I recommend pausing occasionally to reflect on WHY. It makes the story and characters waaaaaay more complex and interesting.
