if it wasn’t for Joel Leslie’s supreme narration, I would not have had the patience to listen to the end.

the writer is undoubtedly capable of creative and original ideas, and just as obvious never learned how to write… or else she thinks that writing like it’s 1960’s and no one knows the tropes is a good idea.

there is a new, creative spin on the vampire-human history idea, and that is the only grace of the story.

the characters are interesting, but flat and unrealistic.

the writing is bad and occasionally even truncated, stupid and illogical.

the story line is unnecessarily convoluted and definitely too long. if I can remember what happened 3 chapters ago, can’t the writer (or even the editor) go back and double check?!

and the boring 2!! additional chapters at the end of the story, are obviously there only to set the ground for the next installment.

btw, the genetics pseudo-science is all BS – I should know, I have a masters in molecular genetics. I wonder what an historian would say about the history bit.

painful let down.

chances are I would not buy the rest of the series
