Dungeon Crawler Carl is hands down one of the most entertaining audiobooks I’ve experienced. Matt Dinniman crafts a wildly imaginative world that perfectly balances humor, action, and heart. The dungeon mechanics are fresh and the stakes feel real, keeping you on the edge of your seat.
Jeff Hays’ narration is nothing short of phenomenal. He brings Carl and Princess Donut to life with such personality that I find myself thinking about their banter days after listening. The dynamic between these two characters is comedy gold, yet the story never loses sight of its emotional core.
What sets this apart from other LitRPGs is its perfect pacing and the way it subverts genre expectations. Just when you think you know where the story’s going, Dinniman throws in a curveball that keeps everything fresh and unpredictable. The progression system is satisfying without becoming overly complicated.
