I want to start off by saying that I’ve never read or listened to this author’s work before but when I read the blurb for this book I decided to give it a listen, the premise of the book about a student and a lecturer becoming involved sexually made me think it might be darker than it was, but in actuality, the story isn’t predatory at all it’s an enjoyable love story between two consenting adults who fit together perfectly.
I know that the storyline is one where the main characters feel an irresistible attraction but personally, I would have liked a little more time spent on how their feelings developed and how the connection between them grew. They seemed to go from lust to love a little too quickly in my opinion, but you may feel differently. But however, they got together I thought they were perfect for each other and I wanted their relationship to continue and flourish.
There is in addition to their love story a subplot but I’m not going to tell you anything about it as I don’t like to give spoilers. Overall I enjoyed the story and liked this author’s writing style, she perfectly captured the relationship between Annabelle and Luke and described the scenes very well.
I like the way Kitty Windrow performed the narration, I’d not listened to her before but now have another name to watch out for when choosing books to listen to. I listened to this one In one sitting yesterday afternoon when there was a local power cut, a great excuse for spoiling myself, wrapping myself up in a warm throw and just relaxing with a nice drink.
I was given this audiobook as a gift and am voluntarily writing my review.
