DCC is my favorite story, and both Matt and Jeff Hayes (the narrator) continue to deliver. The action is non-stop with plenty of twists and surprises and the characters are so real you feel like you know them.

This particular book plays with chronology a lot, showing events out of order and springing surprises on the lines of “hey, this thing happened that we didn’t tell you about and it completely changes the current situation”, which is a thing I’m not too fond of. Still, it’s manageable and the rest of the book is so strong I don’t care. I especially love the way the battle plans make sense, the bad guys get to be smart too, different factions are allowed to have their own goals, and there’s the sense that the story exists in a real universe where other things are happening.

All things said: 5 stars, will read again.
