Story was mediocre, but about the time you thought the story was going okay, the author felt the need to switch back to their erotic fantasies. I overlooked the constant cursing, after all the MC was a former solder and was narrating most of the book. I assumed this was just artistic license. I guess some folks will write off the erotica as “gritty” or “dark fantasy”. I don’t buy this excuse. I see it in the best case as the author embracing “sex sells” or knowing that he doesn’t have the talent to write engagingly.
However, these are charitable interpretations of someone that probably just needs therapy. A shame. I was hoping to find another good fantasy author not an erotic fiction peddler.
