You just HAVE TO love a writer who includes a cat in the apocalypse and makes her an essential character in the book! Author Matt Dinniman doesn’t cheat the reader with typical cat-centric behaviors and attitudes. He grows Princess Donut in critical ways throughout the narrative. I got more than I imagined with this book as I was just hoping for something mildly entertaining enough to get through my weight resistance training regimes three hours daily. Instead, I purchased the other books in the series before the first chapter was over and spent the entire day enjoying the world building and character development in this first book. I was impressed by Jeff Hays performance of book one in another series and decided I needed more of what he offers audio listeners. I had NO idea how truly talented he is! The man is a god! What an awesome experience–an incredible book narrated by what has to be one of the best in the business!
