Where does Every Mother’s Nightmare rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I’ve been lucky enough not to have listened to too many “duds”. However, I would put this in the top 25%. So given how many great books I’ve listened to in this genre, that’s a compliment.
What other book might you compare Every Mother’s Nightmare to and why?
“Misbegotten Son” by Jack Olsen. While the Shawcross story is more about a serial killer, psychopath as opposed to this story, the agony of mothers that lost children is a huge part of that narrative. And of course, Kevin Pierce is brilliant in his narration.
What does Kevin Pierce bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Kevin always brings a sense of character differentiation through voice inflections that I might not do while reading it in my head.
Any additional comments?
Just that this was the quintessential Bosworth-Pierce partnership that makes for a great audiobook. The story had a great flow to it. There’s enough detail to keep you interested – but not so much you get bogged down in the details and begin to lose sight of what the story is really all about.
