Effective narrative use of video game and ttrpg concept/mechanics and makes it accessible to people who aren’t familiar. However, maybe too mature for someone who is new to fantasy/rpg and not already comfortable with dystopian settings that can ride the line of horror, dread, and tragedy. Although, I do think that this is the story’s greatest asset, as not only does the book do an excellent job at being both cool and funny/absurd, which entertains, it is most immersive and moving while it wrestles with depravity and humanity.
