Too bleak all the time. There were about three and a half decent characters- most of which had something happen to ruin or kill them. And there’s a shocking amount of thinly, or not at all veiled misogyny throughout. Not just from the villains- which almost all of them were- but even from the characters you’re supposed to root for.
Not to mention all the rampant SA, yet the author has to write “f-bomb” or dance around swears. Fun fact: SA is far more disturbing than swearing
