Will be mentioning some spoilers so readers beware.

I enjoyed the first book. The characters are likable for the most part, story was enjoyable, the world building had me interested in seeing what’s next to come. All in all I was happy with the first book and want to give credit where credit is due.

The second book is where I’ve decided to drop this series. The author decided to put in some romance which it is already hinted towards in the first book, but considering all the routes to take with this, he makes Perry a cuckadoodledoo. Now sure, on one hand that is the dramatic/ignorant way of addressing the choice so I’ll try to word it a bit different. Most people are referring to the relationship as a polyamorous relationship ( I don’t see the difference between that and a harem) in which Perry shares his gf(Nat) with Heather. Perry and Heather are just friends and from what little research I’ve done on the series as a whole, that doesn’t change. I look at this as instead of Perry being the harem MC, he is instead a harem MEMBER of Nats harem. In IRL you can do as you please, I try my best to not judge, it’s your life after all. If you want me to like your MC you don’t do it by making him some beta that shares his gf with other people. There is zero conversation about this type of relationship in the book, they just naturally accept sharing Nat like its completely normal. You can by all means get offended at my use of the word “normal”, but I’m very monogamous and this is just weird to me.

It’s really a shame because I was really starting to enjoy this series, but I’m done with it and this author’s work in general. I’m guessing his wife’s bf must of asked him to do a self insert, but just warning those of you that may potentially have a issue with that development. Romance in these type of books can sometimes make or break the whole story for some of us. I’m sure you guess what it did for me.
