I’m three books deep into Dungeon Crawler Carl, and I can confidently say this is the most addictive series on Audible. While some series lose steam by the third entry, Matt Dinniman actually manages to raise the bar.
Why Book 3 Hits Different:
The Growth of Carl and Donut: At this point, they are no longer just survivors; they are becoming icons. The bond between them is stronger than ever, and seeing Carl start to “fight the system” adds a layer of depth that makes you want to stand up and cheer.
Insane Creativity: The “Iron Tangle” and the complex mechanics of this floor are mind-bending. The way the RPG elements integrate with the plot is masterfully done—it’s never just stats; it’s life or death.
Darker Stakes: The humor is still top-notch (and Jeff Hays’s narration remains the best in the business), but the emotional weight is real. You start to see the actual cost of the crawl, which makes the victories feel all the more earned.
If you’ve made it through the first two, Book 3 is an absolute must-listen. This series has officially claimed the top spot in my LitRPG rankings. Viva la Revolution!
