Princess Donut is my favorite character. I am not even I cat person because allergies. She is so self-centered, impulsive, and vain but also fiercely loyal, dependable, and hilarious. She loves and trusts Carl even though he scares her sometimes. They are a great team. I’ve enjoyed her character growth from 1st book to where I just finished the 5th. She is truly the heart of whatever group she and Carl find themselves in. Matt Dinniman wrote sympathetic and despicable characters and one hell of an engaging story.
The narration is spot on bringing every one of the players to life. I Dont know that I could’ve been so enraptured if it wasn’t for Jeff Hayes and his entertaining Warburton impression. The sheer number of characters he voiced is super impressive.
Matt and Jeff are both talented rockstars of lit RPG. That’s another thing, I am not a gamer. No involved video games or tabletop or card games like Magic. I’ve always found it to be confusing because there’s just too much detail about abilities, items, buffs, each species and so much more than I can track in my head. My husband is an avid gamer. He was near the beginning of the 1st novel when he played the audio book on a road trip in March. I was hooked within an hour. We have told all our friends about this series encouraging them to check it out for themselves. You’re welcome for converting so many to the cult of DCC.
