The entire book is about how humanity successfully mitigates climate change by transitioning to global communism and fossil fuel assets are destoyed by ecoterrorists. It’s a fantasy where all of the author’s far left political views become laws and norms following revolutions all around the world.
For example, near the beginning of the book, India nationalizes its energy sector and immediately ends the use of fossil fuels. There are no technical or logistical challenges to this or any downsides. The government just adopts the authors preferred economic system and it’s immediately on the path to utopia.
This pattern repeats throughout the entire book. The whole world slowly begins to look like the classless, stateless, and moneyless idealized communism. It doesn’t quite get there by the end of the book, but everything trends in that direction.
Also, people stop eating meat. Society becomes cashless so the government can track everything perfectly, all of the governments in the world begin to function perfectly there is no corruption. Everyone joins the new open source social media/everything app that prevents most data mining. People discover the scientific value of indigenous knowledge. Women’s rights improve. Animal rights are universally recognized. Cultural clashes and disputes over immigration just stop being an issue. Climate refugees become world citizens. Everything just starts becoming perfect and there are no downsides to any of the political or social changes.
