The story is fine, but the characters are a bit boring. By the end of a book I usually have some attachments to characters, so far I am mostly indifferent about Carl, but I am starting to warm up on Princess Doughnut. I guess Carl is supposed to be an average guy, so I guess the author succeeded there? I will give this series one more book to change my opinion, prior to moving on to something else.
