With the title and blurb I expected this to be a silly, smutty bit of guilty pleasure fluff to listen to while doing chores. Much to my surprise, my laundry remains unfolded and my dishes go unwashed because I am so engrossed in this story. The author does such a great job making you see the awful, hopeless brutality of the setting, but writes the characters so well that their humor, tenacity and devotion gives you just enough brightness you share their fragile, desperate hope
