I always like the way RavensDagger can put a unique spin on a story. A nearly unstoppable magical girl in a typical fantasy world is one of them. The plot has multiple layers to it, which adds some mystery to the mix. Crystal Genocide is a cute and fun character, and the side characters were not bad either. There are sporadic chapters pertaining to Rending Nightmare’s origin interspersed throughout the book, and while they were OK, I found myself much less interested in them compared to the main story despite them being tangentially relevant. The book ended neatly and set up the next book and the rest of the series perfectly. Also, the narration had a whole cast of talent, so A+ for that. I appreciate the extra expense and work that went into that and it really adds to the experience. I’m looking forward to more… hopefully it will be soon.
