This book really made me think about my parents and my family. It made me sad. I read the reviews and didn’t think I would like it. I couldn’t understand why it was getting such universally rave reviews and that alone peaked my curiosity and made me purchase it. I thought it was fairly lighthearted and unremarkable for the first half, and easy to listen to while cleaning, so I kept on. By the end I was bawling like a baby. When the neighbor told the story about his family and the Nazi camps, I pretty much lost it. This is a memorable book. It made me want to start writing letters. The narrators did a great job telling the story and were overall believable. It was an easy read and went fast. It also made me want to read Lonesome Dove.
