Clever writing with comedy and some gore. Story line a bit repetitious at times but then gets going into other “territories” of the story. Son says to stick with it thru Book 2 before giving up on it. Thus far, I liked He who Fights with Monsters series better. I had no trouble putting this current audible on hold to do other activities. Delightful narration. (BTW, I am a female in her late 60s who does not know video gaming and I had no trouble following this storyline.) Also, this first story has no resolutions which I dislike in a book that then forces you to buy the next in the series.

Admittedly, I almost gave up in the beginning bec it took too long to get to the explanation of why a foreign world was speaking in english and had humor and characteristics appropriate to our world.
