It is simply the best audiobook series ever written and narrated. I assume this is a review for those who have read the first six and haven’t picked this one up yet. If you haven’t read/listened to those, return to the beginning. This isn’t the series for you if you are squeamish about violence. But if you like the first book, then all the others will be to your liking.
This book focuses on a broader world than previous books and introduces many factions and groups from the rest of the universe. It is worth rereading to catch everything mentioned or alluded to. The many factions and various interactions seem daunting when starting. Still, Matt Dinniman carefully sorts through these, weaving a comprehensive narrative while keeping the humor and absurdity of the previous books. Jeff Hays helps by giving a distinct voice to the numerous enemies that are auditorially distinct. Jeff Hays is the spiritual successor to Mel Blanc, and I am thrilled he is still narrating this series.
