Unfortunately like most books about an apocalypse the author has the characters sounding like over night they developed an accent from the old Wild West. Overnight they develop gangs, stringing people up, shooting each other over there’s no food to be found. Men are rounding up women, keeping them captive after what seems like weeks that the apocalypse started. The main character is described in the beginning as chubby and not knowing anything but yet takes on bad guys with just a knife. He falls in with women immediately and is teaching them to hunt, skin animals, live off the land. Come on! I didn’t even get half way through the first book and I felt like the author didn’t put in any effort to make things a bit more realistic. I know this is fiction but what a waste of not only a credit but my time in trying to make myself continue to listen just in case it might get better. It didn’t.
