Incredible insight and loved how Jack read it in 1st person. It was very personable, always easy to follow. I appreciated the professional comments about sociopaths and parenting. The main character was not all bad and certainly no saint, but seemed to have some form of redeeming qualities. The conflict between son and father was never resolved and this is understandable as I believe not only the alcohol abuse added to the son’s dysfunction, but the father appeared to have a personality disorder too. There appeared to always be a tug of war between them, and a tremendous amount of lack of validity from the father. The wife and children really never had a chance to be whole.
