I have read Tijan before and enjoyed her stories, but none seemed as contrived as this one. The FMC is annoying from the moment we meet her. She has been created with some supposed obsession to meet a cousin she’s never met after having been dumped by her long term bf. But she evidently can only speak in nonsensical, broken sentences to all she meets. It’s tiring. The MMC is clearly supposed to be a tough, morally gray character, a recently retired Police Officer. But this story is written like a Shifter Fated Mates story, I kid you not. Every action, every sentence, every plot device feels so silly, contrived and disjointed. I just can’t anymore, I’m done.
