I DNFed this book at about 15% of the way in.

Why?

This was a free audiobook for me and one of the first reasons: The narrator. He was absolutely trash. He kept attempting a brogue accent, but it would slip and go away all together, only to come back hard the moment her realized the slip. Ew.

Second Reason: The Main character. I spent the majority of my time waiting for him NOT to be insufferable. He was whiny and weak. Sometimes those characters are fun and easy to appreciate because they are realistic. This one? Nope. He was the worst kind of annoying. It was like the writer wrote him that way so we all couldn’t look away from the trainwreck that was the MC’s life.

Third Reason: Nothing made sense. In the maybe 15% that I had read, there was so much random violence and unclear background information that it was difficult to follow. The MC is being kidnapped, but now we are in a camp, but now we will shove severe violence in your face, but now the MC is free and on a horse. WHAT? It just is poor story telling.

The 2 stars were awarded because the cover is pretty and there were some cool ideas in the base level of the plot. They were just poorly written.
