I had to “put down” this one several times. Donut is just more and more bratty, rude, and insufferable. Not in an endearing way at all. Constantly making infuriating decisions, alienating allies, and making the situation worse just for the sake of more drama in the book. Not in a fun way, not in an interesting way, not in a “well that’s just Donut” way, more like in a “I can’t wait until they kill off this stupid character” way. It’s borderline unlistenable. I’m fighting my way through it in short sessions, but this is not at all like the previous books where I was doing 3 or 4 hour marathon sessions. The first couple books (especially with Katia in the party), Donut was more of a sidekick character. As more of a main character now with much more “screen time” I just can’t stand her. I hate to abandon a series this far in, but MAN is it tough.
