What a wild book. The start of a series I am absolutely looking forward to finishing. I love TTRPGs and this book lit up all the Dopamine spots in my brain. It is odd and it is hilarious, but there is a depth I was not expecting. There is excessive talk of the benefits of the toe ring Carl gets when all he wants is a pair of shoes one minute, then another minute where they need to weigh the benefits of leaving behind a group of senior citizens to help their own survival vs what it will do to them regarding their loss of humanity and decency. I don’t care how this series ends, I am in it for the ride. The bumpy, greasy, bloody ride.
