DCC is (over)hyped daily in the Audible Reddit. Not normally a fan of this genre as I find it is typically too formulaic and often juvenile. As a 65 yo female, certainly I am not the target demographic. But I used to play D&D in the 70’s and 80’s so I am not clueless to that world. Even if you are, there is enjoyment to be found in the multitude of characters, which do grow over the course of the series. The “cultural” references span the gamut from Gen Z to Boomers and there is frequently laugh out loud humor. And even tears in a couple of cases, especially in book 6. While I struggled a bit getting through book 1, I am hooked now and looking forward to book 7. Glad I gave into the hype and dove in.
