Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, it is a recommend for sure. The vharacters are entertaining, down to earth, and have their own forms of self honor. The world building is clear to understand and there is a fair amount of mystery pertaining to their identity in different ways.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Elron was my favorite character. His story is sad, but his perspectives on various situations are very honorable and humble. He is an old soul with some old fashioned behaviors, but they make him very chivalrous.
What about Jeff Hays’s performance did you like?
I will admit, at first it kinda through me out of the book to have a male narrator because the main character is female. Though there are multiple POV’s through out the book of both make/female characters, it is not often a male narrator is cast of the lead is female. Despite that he did an excellent job. There were moments when he was Michelle that it was almost like a very husky voiced female was speaking, he was able to pull off the dual narration better than most all male narrators can.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes. I tried to listen to it in a strait shot but unfortunately life happens and interruptions occurred. But it was easy to pick up where I left off, and get right back into the story.
Any additional comments?
There is a fair amount of mystery and intrigue in this story, as well as some action moments. Michelle finds out some clues about her heritage, and it takes you on a bit of a self identity investigation as a sub plot. It also has some small sparks of romantic intrigue but nothing very firm. The relationships were enjoyable and they all had unique paths toward individual goals and part of the fun is untangling how they all play into each other. Elton is so honorable, and his sweet personality just adds to how much your heart hurts for him as some truths come to light. the ending, though it sets up the next book in the series well, seemed a little too convienant, since everything just sorta seemed all wrapped up in a nice little box with a bow. Considering there is a book after this one, ther author could have left some of the conflict hang a bit to play out in the next book, so they carry over a bit. However this way you can read the book as a standalone and have a closure to the main events, but that also would allow the reader to walkway from the rest of the series easily. The amount of set up done for the next part of the storyline in book three wasn’t enough to make me feel drawn in, and say “I have to get book three.” A bigger cliffhanger and some parts of unfinished conflict would have a bigger pull for book 3. Over all I really enjoyed Thai book. It was light hearted despite some heavier subjects and some of the female characters were fierce. I obtained this copy from audiobook boom for an unbiased review.
